All students are eligible for full price (paid status) for the 2024-2025 school year unless they apply for meal benefits by completing a new meal application online on or after July 1, 2024 or if they qualify for government assistance* through Direct Certification.
*Government Assistance:
If the household receives government assistance and or is eligible for direct certification by the government, then the household does not need to complete a meal application for the current school year.
Households that are eligible for direct certification will receive a letter from the Brentwood Borough School District in July or August 2024 confirming that their student(s) is eligible for free meals in the 2024-2025 school year. The letter will state that they do not need to apply for meal benefits.
Grace Period:
If a student was enrolled with the Brentwood Borough School District in 2023-2024 and was eligible for free or reduced price meal benefits in the school year 2023-2024, their eligibility from the school year 2023-2024 will carry over for the Grace Period. They will be given a grace period of 30 days to complete their new meal benefit application for the current 2024-2025 school year.
Households must still apply for meal benefits for the 2024-2025 school year. The new meal benefit will be effective on the date of submission of the new meal benefit application. It is recommended to complete your application as soon as possible and/or before the grace period ends to continue to receive benefits for the current 2024-2025 school year.
The grace period for the 2024-2025 school year will end on October 12, 2024.
On October 13, 2024 any student who does not have a new application on file will change to the paid status and will pay $2.65 for Elementary (grades K – 5) for lunches or $2.90 for Secondary (grades 6-12) for lunches.
