Office Staff

Dr. Bonnie Betler, principal
Dr. Betler is a life-long learner who has undergraduate degrees in biology and secondary education from Drexel University, a master's degree and principal certification from Carlow University, and a doctoral degree from Point Park University.  Before becoming Moore's principal she was the curriculum, instruction, and assessment director at West Jefferson Hills School District and a curriculum coordinator for the Allegheny Intermediate Unit.  She started her educational career teaching biology, chemistry, and anatomy and physiology.  She also taught middle school earth and space science as well as life science.  When Dr. Betler is not at Moore she enjoys reading, doing yoga, and most importantly spending time with her husband, four children, three dogs, and cat.
 
Miss Loretta Harding, custodian
Miss Loretta has been with the Brentwood Borough school district for 10 years.  She started as a cafeteria worker and then joined the custodial team.

Miss Peggy Ormond, custodian
Miss Peggy has worked at Moore Elementary for eight years.  When not taking care of Moore, Miss Peggy is an EMT and can be found taking care of people in the community.
 
Mrs. Sarah Salopek, secretary 
Mrs. Salopek is delighted to be part of a team of professionals who share her core values of integrity, kindness, and community.  These fundamental qualities have been the cornerstone of her success while running her small business for nearly two decades.  Together with her husband, she enjoys watching their son play hockey and grow.  Reading, watching movies, and spending time appreciating nature are also hobbies she enjoys.

Classroom Staff

Mrs. Desiree Baker, paraprofessional
Desiree Baker studied at Point Park University and earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education pre-k thru 4 as well as special education pre-k thru 8.  This is Mrs. Baker's second year as a long term substitute in the district.  She has a great admiration for the district and community.  Desiree helps coach the Chartiers Valley Dance Troupe.  In her spare time she loves to play with her puppy, being with family and going to her camp on the weekends.  She is very excited to see where the rest of the year will take her and to see all of the possibilities with the students in her classroom. 
 
Mrs. Kim Binek, second grade
Mrs. Binek has been with the Brentwood Borough School District for 21 years.  She holds both a bachelor's degree in  elementary education and a master's degree as a reading specialist from Duquesne University.  Mrs. Binek is also the proud mother of two teenage daughters.
 
Ms. Katie Casella, third grade
Katie Casella is the third grade English and Language Arts teacher at Moore Elementary.  Mrs. Casella received her undergraduate degree from Grove City College, where she majored in marketing management.  Upon graduation, she worked for the Maryland Conservation Corps at Assateague State Park.  Afterward, she earned her Master's degree in elementary education from California University of Pennsylvania.  Mrs. Casella also has certification in library science, English as a Second Language, and middle level mathematics.  Prior to teaching at Brentwood, she taught second and fourth grade at Monessen City School District, adult education classes for Penn State Beaver, and ESL for the Beaver Valley Intermediate Unit.  Mrs. Casella was the elementary media literacy teacher for Brentwood for three years before returning to a classroom position in 2021.  In her free time, she enjoys reading, running, cycling, backpacking, caring for her plants, traveling with her husband and snuggling with their pets!

Miss Jessica Downey, fourth grade math and science
Jess Downey received her undergraduate degree from Wheeling Jesuit University in elementary and special education.  She received her  master's in special education from Duquesne University.  Prior to coming to Moore Elementary in December of 2017, Miss Downey worked in the Diocese of Pittsburgh for nine years teaching second grade at Sacred Heart Elementary.  In her free time, Jess loves watching, playing, and coaching sports.  She also enjoys spending time with her family and friends, especially her nieces and nephews. 
 
Mrs. Jessica Graff, art, SAP 
Mrs. Graff received her undergraduate degrees in art and art education from Penn State University.  She began her teaching career in the Pittsburgh Public Schools and taught there for nearly four years.  She then moved with her husband to Charlotte, North Carolina and she continued to teach art for another three years.  When they started to miss Pittsburgh they moved back to Whitehall.  Mrs. Graff received her master's in art education from Edinboro and went on to teach art at Baden Academy until the spring of 2019.  In her spare time, Mrs. Graff enjoys reading, running, cycling, spending time with family and taking long walks with her dog.
 
Ms. Rebecca Hagerty, fifth grade math and science
 Rebecca Hagerty teachers fifth grade mathematics, science, and social studies at Moore Elementary and also serves as the elementary teacher leader for mathematics K - 6 and science/ social studies 3 - 5.  This is her fourteenth year teaching at Moore.  Prior to teaching Ms. Hagerty worked in human resources.  She has an undergraduate degree from Thiel College in political science and a graduate degree from Duquesne Elementary in elementary education.  Ms. Hagerty loves to learn as well as teach - she also has graduate certificates in teaching K - 6 mathematics and mathematics coaching K - 12, and is working on mathematics specialist K - 12 and STEM graduate certificates.  Ms. Hagerty is very passionate about education and loves to encourage positive attitudes about learning, especially in mathematics!  In her free time, Ms. Hagerty enjoys running, hiking, cooking, reading and spending time with family and friends!
 
Mrs. Terri Kauric, elementary counselor, SAP  
Mrs. Kauric is the elementary counselor for both Moore and Elroy Elementary.  She is in her 4th year in the district.  Prior to coming to Brentwood, she worked in several different schools as a student assistance (SAP) liaison, a school based mental health therapist, a prevention specialist, and a school counselor.  She received her Bachelor's degree in social work from Edinboro University and a Master's in school counseling from Duquesne University.  In addition, Mrs. Kauric has is a Nationally Certified Counselor.  She loves working with students and helping them overcome barriers to learning.  She enjoys teaching them the skills needed to be successful in life both academically and socially.  In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters kayaking, biking, camping, reading and spending time with friends and family.
 
Mrs. Margie Kelly, paraprofessional
Mrs. Kelly has worked at Moore Elementary for nine years.  She holds her bachelor's degree in special and elementary education from Duquesne University.  Prior to coming to Moore she taught at an early intervention agency's special education preschool for 17 years.  In her spare time she enjoys spending time with family and reading.
 
Miss Rachael Maiden, kindergarten
Rachael Maiden received her undergraduate degree from Penn State University in Elementary and Early Childhood Education.  She is in pursuit of her M. Ed. in Literacy from Clemson University.  Prior to coming to Moore Elementary in 2019, Miss Maiden worked in the State College Area and South Park School District. Miss Maiden has been teaching kindergarten over five years - this grade level has a special place in her heart! In her free time, Rachael loves crafting, gardening, and playing with her boxer dog, Rosie. She also enjoys staying active with spin class!

Mrs. Leslie Miller, second grade
Mrs. Miller has been a teacher in the Brentwood Borough School District since 1999.  She began her teaching career in Missouri for the first two years.  She attended the University of Pittsburgh, Main Campus, for both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in elementary education.  She truly loves teaching in the classroom with the students and this community.  She enjoys reading, walking, and visiting new places!
 
Mr. Andrew Ohm, physical education, SAP
Mr. Ohm has been with Moore School for two years however he has been teaching physical and health education for over seven years.  He obtained his undergraduate degree from Slippery Rock University in health and physical education and his Master's degree from California University of Pennsylvania in performance enhancement and injury prevention.  Mr. Ohm, his wife, and daughter currently reside in the Baldwin-Whitehall area.  Mr. Ohm enjoys going to sporting events not only in Pittsburgh, but across the country as well.  Playing sports with friends helps him to keep his competitive spirit alive during his free time.  He also likes to spend time with his family and enjoy the outdoors.

Mrs. Christie O'Neill, kindergarten
Mrs. O'Neill has been teaching at Moore for over 25 years.  She received her undergraduate degree in elementary education and speech language pathology from California University of Pennsylvania.  She holds her master's degree and reading specialist certification from the same institution.  Mrs. O'Neill is married and has two wonderful daughters.  She is proud to say that she can trace her family lineage back to the German Dutch settlers who established the first settlement in western Pennsylvania.  The recorded history in her family tree includes more than 25 relatives who have been teachers, including her great-grandfather who was one of the last teachers in her hometown, Greensburg, to teach in a one-room school house. 
 
 Ms. Katy Rodriguez, English as a Second Language, SAP
Katy Kennedy-Rodriguez teaches English as a Second Language and academic enrichment at Moore Elementary School. She came into teaching later in life having first worked as an actor, food stylist, corporate trainer, and props master. She has a Bachelor of Arts in theater/communications from the University of Dayton and an Master of the Art of Teaching in secondary English from the University of Pittsburgh as well as her ESL certification. She has taught every grade from pre-school to post-secondary and loves the challenge of always learning something new. Ms. Rodriguez is a teacher leader with the Western Pennsylvania Writing Project and a member of All-For-All, a local group that works with immigrants and refugees. 
 
Mrs. Shannon Schubert, first grade 
Mrs. Schubert has been a teacher in the Brentwood School District for over 20 years.   She attended Penn State University for her Bachelor's degree and earned her Master's degree at Duquesne University.  She is married and has three children.  In her free time, she enjoys reading, exercising, and spending time with family and friends.

Mrs. Shannon Sciulli, fifth grade English language arts & social studies
Shannon Sciulli is excited to join the Moore Elementary family. She is the fifth grade English Language Arts and Social Studies teacher. This is her fifteenth-year teaching. Prior to joining Moore Elementary, Mrs. Sciulli taught at independent schools in the Pittsburgh area. She has undergraduate degree from Duquesne University in elementary education with a minor in English. Mrs. Sciulli earned her Master’s degree in Public Management with a concentration in Educational Technology Management from Carnegie Mellon University. She is an avid learner and is eager to work and learn alongside her fifth-grade students. In her free time, she enjoys running, practicing yoga, baking, and traveling with her family.  
 
Mrs. Kathryn Smeltz, media literacy and GATE
Mrs. Smeltz is the media literacy teacher at Moore and Elroy Elementary buildings.  Her class consists of elements from library, technology and STEAM.  She has been with the district for over 15 years.  She received her undergraduate degree at Duquesne University and her Master's of business education Robert Morris University.  In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three crazy kids.  She also loves trying unique foods, baking with her kids, camping and going on adventures with her family!
 
Mrs. Anne Steigerwald, first grade
Mrs. Steigerwald started her career as a special education teacher for four years before spending the last 12 years teaching first grade.  Teaching is Mrs. Steigerwald's passion and she absolutely loves what she does!  She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education and special education, a Master's in education, and a reading specialist certification.  In addition, she is a National Board Certified teacher in reading literacy: reading-language arts (early and middle childhood ages 3 - 12).  When she is not teaching, she loves spending time with her family.  The Steigerwalds are very busy with their three children (Mya, Camden, and Ava) and their boxer (Mac).  When she has time for herself, she loves reading, swimming, cooking, baking, and boxing.  Mrs. Steigerwald is a lifelong learner, her favorite color is green and she loves to eat anything spicy and anything chocolate!  She is also an avid exerciser and teaches fitness boxing at her local gym.
 
Mrs. Lindsay Vinay, reading room & Title I reading
Mrs. Vinay has been working as a reading specialist in the Brentwood Borough School District for ten years.  She earned a bachelor's degree in elementary and special education from Geneva College and a master's degree in reading from Edinboro University.  Before coming to Brentwood, she taught sixth grade language arts in Waynesburg for four years.  Mrs. Vinay currently serves as the elementary teacher leader for ELA in grade K - 2.  Mrs. Vinay loves spending her day at school teaching children to read!  When at home, she loves cooking, reading, being outdoors, and spending time with her husband and three sons.
 
Mrs. Kelly Welding, speech
Mrs. Welding has both her Bachelor and Master of science degrees in speech pathology from Duquesne University.  Prior to working in Brentwood, Kelly worked for the Allegheny Intermediate Unit for 12 years. She also worked with early intervention kids (ages 2 - 4) and in skilled nursing facilities in the past.  Mrs. Welding greatly enjoys her job and helping the students of Brentwood be successful communicators.  When not a school, she enjoys spending time with her family, husband Jeff, and three kids, Ella, Jeffrey, and Oliver.  She enjoys exercising, reading books, cooking, doing arts and crafts, and cleaning and organizing her house.  

Mrs. Rebecca Wilson, third grade math, science, and social studies
Mrs. Wilson is a proud Brentwood graduate and has been teaching at Moore Elementary for over 15 years.  She truly loves teaching and enjoys getting to know all of her students!  She earned her Bachelors of Arts degree from Slippery Rock University and her master's degree in curriculum and instruction from Gannon University.  When she is not at school, Mrs. Wilson loves spending time with her husband and three children.  She also loves to read (books and gossip magazines), bake, take long walks with her family, and have nightly dance parties with her kiddos.
 
Mrs. Dawn Ziegler, special education; SAP
Mrs. Ziegler is a proud teacher and resident of the Brentwood Borough.  She has been teaching for 27 years.  Her first two years she taught special education to middle and high school students at private institutions.  Currently in her twenty-fifth year at Brentwood, she is teaching special education to primary grades.  Her previous time at Moore was spent in kindergarten, first and fifth grades. Mrs. Ziegler has an undergraduate degree from California University of PA in teaching physically and mentally disabled and elementary education.  She earned a Master's degree from Duquesne University in reading.  Mrs. Ziegler is also a National Board certified teacher as well as a licensed cosmetologist.  She is a life-long learner who enjoys professional development from local universities and educational agencies.  In her spare time she loves spending time with her husband and four children.  Together, they love traveling and watching and playing games and sports.  She also loves being a hair stylist, reading, exercising and taking pictures.
 
Mrs. Tatiana Ziegler, special education; SAP
Mrs. Ziegler is a proud graduate of Brentwood!  She has been teaching at Moore Elementary for 10 years.  Mrs. Ziegler earned her bachelor's degree at Point Park University in elementary education and her master's degree in special education from Carlow University.  While at Point Park, Mrs. Ziegler was on the cross country and basketball teams!  She loves teaching and watching her students succeed in and out of the classroom!  When she is not at school she loves spending time with her husband and four children.  She also loves baking, watching her kids play sports, exercising, and eating sour candies!
 
Mrs. Lynne Zietak, fourth grade English language arts and social studies
Mrs. Zietak has taught in the Brentwood Borough School District since 2007, teaching at both the middle school and Elroy prior to coming to Moore in 2015. She earned her bachelor's in elementary and special education from Carlow University as well as a master's degree from Duquesne.  Mrs. Zietak also holds certifications as a reading specialist and in middle level language.  She loves teaching and considers it to not only be her career, but also a hobby that she is very passionate about!  In addition to teaching fourth grade, Mrs. Zietak, serves as the elementary teacher leader for grade 4 and 5 ELA.  In her free time she enjoys arts and crafts, baking, catching up on her favorite shows, taking walks, and spending time with her family.
